Australian standards require us to install a timer that will automatically switch on the booster for around 2 hours per day, this prevents bacterial growth in the tank and protects your family against any diseases. The booster will only operate if the water temperature is below the set temperature of 65 degrees centigrade.
Generally yes. The roofs of most homes will easily support the weight of a Rinnai roof mounted solar hot water system. We will however inspect your roof at the time of quotation to ensure there will not be an issue.
Should your roof not be suitable you still have the option of a Rinnai split solar hot water system or a Rinnai stainless steel heat pump.
All our solar hot water systems (except the Rinnai Heat Pump) are installed with a booster, normally electric although gas boosters are also available. If required your booster will provide hot water when the sun isn't providing enough energy.
How often you use the booster will depend on a range of factors including, family size, roof pitch and orientation, hot water usage patterns and climatic conditions. It is entirely normal for the booster to be required during periods of low solar gain (rainy / overcast weather) and during the winter months. The graph below shows the approximate solar gain throughout the year
All of our solar panels are made using toughened glass and undergo strict IEC testing to ensure they can withstand most hail storms. We have been installing quality solar power systems on the Sunshine Coast for many years and have not yet seen a panel damaged by hail.
In the unlikely event of damage your household insurance should cover replacement costs. It is important that you check with your insurer for coverage.
