SolarEdge StorEdge
A unique battery storage inverter from SolarEdgeSolarEdge StorEdge
The average home uses more electricity in the morning and evening than during the day when solar energy is plentiful. Without a home battery, excess solar energy is often sold to the power company and purchased back in the evening at a much higher cost. This mismatch adds demand on power plants and increases carbon emissions.
The SolarEdge StorEdge solution uses the LG Chem RESU HV battery to bridge this gap between renewable energy supply and demand by making your home’s solar energy available to you when you need it making it an ideal Sunshine Coast solar battery solution.
SolarEdge Solution
Emergency Power Supply (EPS): SolarEdge’s StorEdge™ solution allows your Sunshine Coast home to store solar energy and use it during power failures \to power your important backed-up loads, such as, lights, refrigeration, fans, cells phones, and computers. It is not possible to run your entire house on EPS mode.
System monitoring:
Monitoring your SolarEdge solar power system is easy and intuitive – this video shows the SolarEdge online monitoring portal and explains its features:
Key Features:
- 12 Year industry leading warranty
- Backup power functionality – in the event of a power failure the SolarEdge StorEdge inverter provides power to your home in under 2 seconds (please note that this is not suitable as a UPS).
- Maximise self consumption – stop selling excess solar power to the power companies for a pittance and start storing it for self use.
- Available in 2 sizes 5kW and 6kW.
- Enhanced Safety – designed to eliminate high voltage and current during installations, maintenance and fire fighting
- Full Visibility – built-in monitoring of battery status, solar power production, remaining backup power, and self consumption data
- Easy Maintenance – remote access to inverter software
Existing SolarEdge Inverters – Are they compatible with StorEdge?
The good news is that all existing SolarEdge solar power inverters manufactured after 2014 can be converted into a battery storage solution by simply installing the the StorEdge interface.
The StorEdge interface sits between your existing SolarEdge inverter and the LG RESU HV Battery and will provide all the benefits of the new SolarEdge StorEdge inverter except it will not be able to provide backup power in the event of a power failure.
Power failures in suburbia are reasonably uncommon therefore this should not be too much of an issue however if you live in an area that suffers from regular brown or blackouts your should look to upgrade to the SolarEdge StorEdge inverter.
